No idea. I found an interesting shape that corresponds with that (bridge for a shamisen), but I don't think its the same.

https://irohakamon.c...marunishamigoma.html

Hard to tell if its a kamon, or if its a base for some other emblem. Or maybe some emblem affiliated with war production (like some steel producing factory or a ship-building company, etc.).

I was hoping someone could help with this one (sorry, not on a sword but a yatate).

A seven spoke arrow wheel in the family group "Ya". I've included a pic of the page from my mon book, however it doesn't give a family name.

Thank you,

John C.

Haha yes, every little detail differed by family, but always need to make sure which way round it is too, white on a black background, or vice versa, i.e. there were positive and negative versions.

陰家紋

Yours is two positive lines on a sukashi background.

@Bugyotsuji

Piers:

On the seven arrows spoke wheel mon I posted above, do you know if there is a list of family names associated with it? Would Ya be the first syllable.

Thank you,

John C.

Hi John, apologies, saw yours but decided I was not going to go there! (Rabbit, hole, etc.)

These 11 familes are given for *'Nanatsu Yaguruma', three with Ya in their names: 太田、服部、高畠、日和佐、真島、田村、福井、能勢、大矢、矢作、矢部など

Here: 七つ矢車紋(ななつやぐるま):家紋のいろは (irohakamon.com)

*Also called 七本矢車 Nanahon Yaguruma

Thank you! I really appreciate your time and effort. I was hoping for a sense of who may have used this and you provided just what I was looking for.

Thank you again,

John C.

Hi John that was quick there is a rank tassel ,not sure if it’s legit but I don’t no any more details I’m asking on behalf of a mate

Just going back to Snowy's Mon a couple of posts back. I can see the circle is made up of Fuji wisteria, indicating some link to the huge Fujiwara genealogy, but the inner parts are too blurred in that shot.

Welcome to the forum, Will. That is Maru ni Ken-Katabami, depicting wood sorrel and swords. One of the more prolific Mon to encounter. Looks like a nice sword, do you have any other pictures?

Does anyone know this mon?

It looks similar to the Maru Ni Hana Warabi (Bracken Flowers within a circle) posted here, but is oriented differently.

It also looks similar, but not identical, to the one identified as "Horio" on this chart.

Hmmm........... this is a tough one. I'd like to agree on fundo, scale weights, but the two circles are complete and do not open out at the edges, which would be an essential feature.

For this reason I temporarily reserve judgement.

丸に二曜紋 (Maru ni futa-yomon) is probably what it should be called if it existed, 'two celestial bodies in a circle', but the Yomon seem to start at three and go up to 9, i.e. (Kuyomon) 九曜文 and beyond. (Never as low as two?) 丸に二つ星紋 might also work, if you call these bodies 'hoshi' or 'stars'.

家紋二つ星紋 - 検索 画像 (bing.com)

My guess is that it's a later kamon made up following the end of the feudal era.

Guess not Fundo...but Piers seems close with the stars?!

This is what I could find after a quick search:

InadaorFunaki.jpg.f02769605cf9798b9c6dfaa91a7368b0.jpg

It is related to the "稲田" (Inada*) or "船木" (Funaki/ Funagi) family regarding my book.

* Other readings are Inata, Inaba, Ineta, Ineda or also Mori...
