Surfson Posted August 27, 2019 Author Report Posted August 27, 2019 Gilles, I will let the lexicographers answer your question. However, my question is that, considering how nearly identical these two inscriptions are, does it mean that we have miraculously found the two katanas that were owned by Tadanari when he was 91 or is this a repeated inscription meant to deceive? Is it possible that there are others out there? Was Tadanari's collection all inscribed this way? Quote
Mark Posted August 27, 2019 Report Posted August 27, 2019 my opinion would be that these were done by a sword dealer to fancy up the swords for sale. It would seem to me that if an owner was 91 and had 2 swords he wanted inscribed in gold he would have had the 2 done exactly the same like a matched set Quote

Tom Darling Posted August 28, 2019 Report Posted August 28, 2019 There are many more out there than you think. I had one (gimei) that was kinzogan tameshigirii 30 yrs ago. Peace. Tom D. Quote
