Utopianarian Posted August 15, 2019 Report Posted August 15, 2019 I attended a sword meeting Nanka Token Kai in Gardena Ca a while back and Mike Yamasaki quickly looked at this sword and said looked like Bingo Mihara but I don’t know what era it may be from. It was also in WW2 gunto fittings. What era would you guess? Quote
Utopianarian Posted August 15, 2019 Author Report Posted August 15, 2019 It looks like a strong Mino influence Quote
Utopianarian Posted August 15, 2019 Author Report Posted August 15, 2019 Also a long tiger tail on Boshi Quote
Utopianarian Posted August 15, 2019 Author Report Posted August 15, 2019 I don’t know if worth polish Quote
Utopianarian Posted August 15, 2019 Author Report Posted August 15, 2019 No signature on Nakago Quote
Utopianarian Posted August 15, 2019 Author Report Posted August 15, 2019 Seems to be a sort of repeating pattern with Hamon with box like tops to activity. Hard to capture in pics but a little noi just under the peaks but little activity below. Well grained Quote
Utopianarian Posted August 15, 2019 Author Report Posted August 15, 2019 Also an interesting thing to note that both sides of the sword the Hamon has an identical Hamon pattern almost like it was in a mirror Quote

Utopianarian Posted August 15, 2019 Author Report Posted August 15, 2019 Lol I am kinda new to posting as of a few days ago. I guess it does look ridiculous Quote
Ray Singer Posted August 15, 2019 Report Posted August 15, 2019 Bingo Mihara is most often (but not always) some form of suguha. I am surpised that Mike would give that attribution for your sword, which has a hamon with a Shinto feel to me. BTW, it is best not to lay a sword on the floor which is in fairly intact polish (and is a bit disrespectful to do so). 2 Quote
