Hello

Has anyone heard of this smith? Tsuba pictured below, any opinions regarding  its authenticity? Seller states he is well known but I cannot find any info other then Edo period as stated by seller

If you are searching the title of this thread could be why you are having problems finding info.

 

The signature reads

正阿弥. 信忠: Shoami Nobutada

会津: Aizu

 

The Nihonto Koza has him listed as 正阿弥 藤原 信忠: Shoami Fujiwara Nobutada

Also 会陽 Aiyo is listed by his name. The translator states that he believes “Aiyo is a poetic way of writing Wakamatsu, the capital city of Aizu”

Hm, I think that this tsuba is actually signed "Matsuyama-jū Shōami Nobutada" (枩山住正阿弥信忠). This would mean that the artist was rather from the Iyo-Shōami than from the Aizu-Shōami group. Nice tsuba BTW.
