Hey!

I have an old katana(I think), I have tried looking for a professional in my area(Norway) online and everywhere but could not find any. Posted on reddit regarding my Katana, and some advised me to post here, I might have posted in the wrong section of forums so my bad on that.

Here is the links of pics:

1. https://imgur.com/a/vJwOEVk - Several Pictures

2. https://imgur.com/a/1ZEg4z7 - Pictures of the tang both sides

3. https://imgur.com/a/sGx1qLl - Close look at the tang on possibly markings.

At first I thought there was no markings, but after looking really close there seems to be some markings(Link nr.3), hard to tell because of the rust etc, I will take better pictures when I come home from Vacation.

Some said it might be from the gendaito, Late shin-shinto or Gendai period.

Dimensions: Aprox 75cm from tip of the blade to the Saya, and 102cm total length.

I am a little new to the Katana world, so I know only a few terms yet.

Edit: I will post better pictures with a better camera when I get back home from vacation

Can't tell much about the sword,  but the fuchi/kashara and saya end are Sendai school.

I don't see any markings on the tang. Let's see what others say.

The pictures are not good, need clear, in focus close up shots of the tang right side up, photos of the full blade.

I am currently on vacation, will post better pictures when I get back!

Hello there,

Just trying to see if anyone can help me verify wether this is a real or fake. I am being told this is from the late edo period (1700's nihinto katana). Any help is much appreciated.

To Aeljaou.....Everything. There is nothing there that looks real. I expect both, but first one is about as typical a fake as you can get.
