I need some advice.

Bought a sword, and had the item a couple months.

Had some nice high res pics done, then due to other matters realized I needed to sell it.

I sent it back to the original seller and upon recieving it he claims its scratched up, and sends me a pic from a 1inch section,(supposedly of the blade) and says, "hope your ready to take a loss when I try and sell it for you at the show, because it really stands out".

So, I have some doubt, I know it was packaged correctly, ect...and the pic he sent of damage doesnt really match any part of my blade due to the complex hamon. Plus, I just had high res pics before sending the item.

Long story short...asked a few NMB members to snoop around at the show for me, and guess what? No damage to be seen on my item.

So, instead of naming names here...or starting a pissing match, what is the advice from the experts..??

Not claiming to be an expert- but I would play it in the open. Simply ask him to take a total pic of the blade in which you can see the flaw. Tell him some friends of yours saw the blade at the show and they couldn't find any flaw. (you can also mention the high-res pics)

It could be an honest mistake, it could be that he's simply testing the water, or it could be that he's trying to con you. Anyway, confronting him will shed light on his intentions.

Bad one.

I suppose what I would do is tell him "Phew....looks like you got my blade confused with someone else's, as friends saw it at the show and the pics weren't of mine. I think you might have confused my blade with someone else's. However i have someone else interested right now, so do you mind if I send someone round to fetch it, or send it back, thanks"

That way you give the dealer a way out, and you can both go your separate ways. Best just to get the sword back and let it go. Maybe the dealer was mistaken.

I would send someone to pick up the sword ASAP, without mentioning that there were no scratches when seen at the show. The last thing you want to do is back the guy into a corner, where he'll be forced to scratch the blade in order not to be proven a liar.

Very unfortunate situation you've gotten into; I wish you and the sword the best. I also wish I knew who we're talking about; we all need to know.

when rick decides what to do i think we should, i was the one that mailed it back, i was hoping he would not post until we had talked it over. In the heat of the moment he did, now all we can do is hope it gets back to me in the condition i sent it. the kind member who went to look at it for me may have missed it at the show thats why i wanted to wait. When all the dust has settled it will be known.
