Well, gee. I hate it when guys don't follow the pattern. But I have no pride, so, let me ask if sword is by MASATSUNE, and signed something like

Ishinsai Masatsune oite Tokyo,

so maybe by that Bungo guy but while he was up in Edo - as things were heating up...

MAS1247

NEAT SWORD - and I love the tsuba!

Thank you Peter,

Sadly some person had at the blade with a wire brush.

So the topic for the current owner and myself is if the sword deserves a polish and any sort of restorative efforts. All of this depends on the pedigree etc.

Again thanks to all who made the effort.

Also we are gun and sometimes antique sword , dagger, militatia sellers and usualy a few times a year one of us will come up with these swords as folks darken our doorsteps looking to make some cash off of the estates they were left with. This sort of thing does happen frequently

And some neat stuff has come into play over the past 35 years. So when we come across these swords we post here for the expert oppinion,

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one, unless your post is really relevant and adds to the topic..
