Senpai-Pete Posted July 19, 2019 Report Posted July 19, 2019 Local ad on Craigslist selling this blade. Would anyone know what it says, if the person is real, and if they were a good smith? Trying to figure out if it’s worth 2000 or not. Thanks -Pete Quote
Stephen Posted July 19, 2019 Report Posted July 19, 2019 Hizen Kuni ju Fujiwara Tadayoshi. No other fitting? If valed sig yes. Quote

ROKUJURO Posted July 19, 2019 Report Posted July 19, 2019 Pete, welcome to the board! It is KATANA MEI, so better check for authenticity. There are more fakes than originals on the market! Quote
Surfson Posted July 19, 2019 Report Posted July 19, 2019 If gimei (probably, but I didn't study it), not worth $2K. Quote
raaay Posted July 19, 2019 Report Posted July 19, 2019 not a cast iron guarantee but the red flag is it is not signed Tachi Mei, but there are always exceptions !! Quote
Nobody Posted July 19, 2019 Report Posted July 19, 2019 The blade looks a wakizashi to me. Then it is natural that the Tadayoshi blade has a katana mei. However, I am not saying that the mei is genuine. 4 Quote
Ed Harbulak Posted July 19, 2019 Report Posted July 19, 2019 Pete, the signature is definitely gimei, so judge the blade and value it accordingly or as a mumei blade. The second character in the mei, zen of Hizen, is wrong for the Tadayoshi main line smiths. It may be a good sword, but the signature is not correct. 1 Quote
Senpai-Pete Posted July 19, 2019 Author Report Posted July 19, 2019 Thanks a lot everyone I really appreciate it. I guess it was an old listing cause I contacted the guy and he said it was gone already. Probably for the best anyway. -Pete Quote
