Fuuten Posted July 17, 2019 Report Posted July 17, 2019 Apart from the price its quite impressive Quote
TETSUGENDO Posted July 17, 2019 Report Posted July 17, 2019 I've already ordered one, damn the cost, there are few things worse than a dull and rusty nakago. Now I can finally put all that exhausting sanding and grinding behind me. -S- 1 Quote
16k Posted July 17, 2019 Report Posted July 17, 2019 Joking (and price) aside, that outstanding. Can you imagine if we could remove the rust from rusty blades just to see if they’re worth a proper polish! Quote
TETSUGENDO Posted July 17, 2019 Report Posted July 17, 2019 All joking aside, it looks like something that would add to the problem, not solve it. Looks to me like it would mask things by etching the surface and unnecessarily soften the geometry...leading to more metal loss, not less. Would be nice if someone familiar with these devices would weigh in, it would save us the speculation. -S- 3 Quote
Robin Posted July 17, 2019 Report Posted July 17, 2019 ....and I'm a convicted criminal here for removing some dirt with Blu-tack. 8 Quote
Stephen Posted July 17, 2019 Author Report Posted July 17, 2019 No speculation allowed not for Nihonto in any way shape or form! 1 Quote
Lance Posted July 17, 2019 Report Posted July 17, 2019 They should put something like these in car washes for states with harsh winters Regards, Lance Quote

Think of the process like "hyper-oxidation," that causes Fe2O3 & Fe3O4 to break down into their component elements. 1 Quote
TETSUGENDO Posted July 18, 2019 Report Posted July 18, 2019 So the one in the video was not properly adjusted. Thanks for the info Ken, in that case I'll begin a fund to purchase one, with my accumulated pocket change I should have the means in no time. -S- 1 Quote
16k Posted July 19, 2019 Report Posted July 19, 2019 Great tool. Before After One one day Judging by the patina, I’d say no older than late Edo. Probably a shinshinto, utsuchi boat. Top seems to be suriage. Pyrhana 1993 seems to be a later addition mei, so I’d say we have a gimei boat. Quote
Ken-Hawaii Posted July 19, 2019 Report Posted July 19, 2019 Hey, all kidding aside, the prices on this technology are dropping fast. Even Amazon sells a hand unit: https://www.amazon.com/DIHORSE-Hand-Held-Cleaning-Machine-Removal/dp/B07RTWGS24?th=1 Give it another few years, & they'll be priced like about like a Shinto blade!
