Vermithrax16 Posted June 28, 2019 Report Posted June 28, 2019 Rare birds are Taima swords, so wanted to make sure people took a look. Our own Paul Bowman wrote an article with more information on the school. Here you go: http://www.militaria.co.za/articles/A%20Katana%20attributed%20to%20Yamato%20Taima.pdf The suguha hamon on this one is sublime, and in hand I can't imagine the beauty of the hada and the texture of the steel. Clearly I am a Yamato fan, so biased, but without regard to buying, I think this one is worth some study: https://www.nihonto.com/1-2-19-2/ 7 Quote
Tom Darling Posted June 29, 2019 Report Posted June 29, 2019 Hi Jeremiah, Are there any known signed Taema blades? Peace. Tom D. Quote
Jussi Ekholm Posted June 29, 2019 Report Posted June 29, 2019 They are quite rare but so far I have documented 11 of them. I know there are more of them but I currently lack the data of them in form I want it. Quote
Tom Darling Posted July 1, 2019 Report Posted July 1, 2019 I recall seeing one (very stout) in Dallas passing shinsa 1972 or 1973? Dr. Kanzan Sato, John Yumoto was translating. Dr. Walter Compton had a Hiromitsu ( hitatsura) on display. Thank you Jeremiah for bringing Taema blades to light, exceptional school. Jussi, thank you for the info, as always. Peace. Tom D. Quote
