Star stamped blade

Hello and thank you in advance. I need help in reading the star stamped blade that I picked up in a package deal with some other Japanese stuff.

You can edit your post. Have to delete them, and re-upload. But cell pics will often rotate. Best to edit them on the phone and save, even if they appear correct. Then upload.

A most noteworthy feature of this sword is the not often seen reverse takanoha yasurime (reverse hawk feather filemarks).  The signature is also most elegantly incised.

Is the rest of the mei noting who ordered it or some sort of patriotic inscription?

John, the characters beside the nengo just state that the smith was a resident of Higo Futami (肥後二見人), which is in modern day Yatsushiro, Kumamoto Prefecture

Well, part of the other side is a date: A day in September, 1942. I can't read the rest.

 

Also, John, do the tsuba and seppa have numbers or marking similar to the marking at the end of your nakago?

Ah so! The odd stamp on the nakago is probably a poorly struck "9" with "4" matching the numbers on the fittings.
