IJASWORDS Posted May 24, 2019 Report Posted May 24, 2019 I am interested in understanding how the double hanger sword was suspended from the sword belt. Did they have two straps and a hook? Pictured are some of my belts. The all leather is an NCO, the canvas belt has one chain link hanger, but two additional hooks at the top. Any thoughts or photos would be appreciated. 2 Quote
Dave R Posted May 24, 2019 Report Posted May 24, 2019 I have no doubt but that someone will turn up an army or navy belt with two hangers for the Shin and Kai Gunto... However not having seen one to date I do wonder if they used the same solution as the US did in the 1900's. Quote

Bruce Pennington Posted May 30, 2019 Report Posted May 30, 2019 Fuller also has a picture of Army General Araki Sadao wearing a Type 94. You can just see the second belt strap coming out from under the edge of his coat. After reading Fuller's coverage of the topic, it seems the belts were made with 2 straps for wearing 2-ashi gunto. 1 Quote
