sz_waldmann Posted May 17, 2019 Report Posted May 17, 2019 Hello, This is the final piece of the puzzle of my last buy. I managed to either get help with the rest or translated it myself (yay!) but this one eludes me. I figured that the rightmost coloumn is probably a date, but that is as far as I got. Could somebody please have a look at it? thanks, Szab Quote
SteveM Posted May 17, 2019 Report Posted May 17, 2019 The top part is a date, the bottom part is the name plus the signature of the person who did the sayagaki (sort of a calligraphic flourish called kaō in Japanese). Unfortunately the date is mostly unreadable to me. Maybe Moriyama-san (aka the poster known as "Nobody") can read it. 囗長年囗月 (卯月?)uzuki = april The signature is also unreadable to me. 杉本? Sugimoto + kao? Quote
Nobody Posted May 17, 2019 Report Posted May 17, 2019 I cannot read/write grass script except very simple characters. The part of the sayagaki is too hard to read for me. At first, I guessed the date was 甲辰年 (Kinoe-Tatsu no toshi) - 1964 卯月 (Uzuki) – April However; the second kanji does not look 辰, and it looks more like 長. That denies my guess. Quote
