16k Posted May 8, 2019 Report Posted May 8, 2019 What bothers me a little is you see many modern iterations of shuriken that look exactly shaped like that. So how to differentiate a real one from a cleverly aged one? 1 Quote
Shugyosha Posted May 8, 2019 Report Posted May 8, 2019 手裏剣 shuriken (should be 車剣 shaken) 大五方 large 5 sided. I can't read the rest. John It begins with Iga (伊賀) but then that's me done. Quote
SteveM Posted May 8, 2019 Report Posted May 8, 2019 Top part is 伊賀流 Iga-ryū (Iga being a place name...the place where ninjas come from). 1 Quote
Shugyosha Posted May 8, 2019 Report Posted May 8, 2019 What bothers me a little is you see many modern iterations of shuriken that look exactly shaped like that. So how to differentiate a real one from a cleverly aged one? Best not to try. I've got a great view from this minefield thanks, and I even know where some of the mines are and can sometimes recognise one when I see it. No point in going digging around on the other side of the fence. Quote
DanielGJ Posted May 8, 2019 Report Posted May 8, 2019 Top part is 伊賀流 Iga-ryū (Iga being a place name...the place where ninjas come from). Iga Ryu means School or Style of Iga that next to Koga are the zones where the shinobi clans were. Quote
sz_waldmann Posted May 8, 2019 Author Report Posted May 8, 2019 Thank you kind sirs for your input. I will stay away from this one, tough it is truly spectacular - there is simply no way of telling like this. If it had papers or something, I'd gladly buy it. I just hope i will not see this resurface somewhere for ten times the money :D SZAB Quote
Brian Posted May 8, 2019 Report Posted May 8, 2019 Center hole looks punched and not drilled? Hmmm... Quote
