Hi,

Can anyone help me to indentify this one.

According Tokka (in Tokyo) the tsuka is from the 18th century (I had the ito fixed), but I don´t know about the wakizashi.

Any information is appreciated.

Thanks for the answer.

This has been in a family for about 60 years. I was once told that the blade is about 350 years old, but unfortunately I was too young at that time to listen more carefully.

But the gunome hamon in this Wakizashi is beautiful as well as maru mune. The blades I have seen maru mune is not that common.

You know I have problems with remembering anything after three hundred years ago also. All seriousness aside, a nice sword in sound mounts. maybe a side shot of the nakago to see the shape and file marks and some pix of the kissaki, in Hawaii? looks like ocean in the background. if so we can guide you to someone who will tell you with one look.

Nah, Stephen - Hawaii is much greener! :D And who in Hawaii did you have in mind? Bob Benson? Al Bardi has moved to New York, so don't depend on him out here for a few years. We do have Tanaka-san, Matsui-san, & Masaki-san, of course.

I think I can see o-sujikai and maybe higaki towards the nakago jiri, but that doesn't proof anything as well beside having file marks :) I don't think it is mino school though it is hard to say from the photos. It might have been shortened as I faintly see machi okuri but this is far shot, more photos are needed. Mike
