vajo Posted May 4, 2019 Report Posted May 4, 2019 Which Sageo would fit to this o-wakizashi (color/ design)? Thanks Chris Quote
16k Posted May 4, 2019 Report Posted May 4, 2019 I have a katana with almost exactly the same color scheme. The koshirae is from late Edo and the sages is original I think. It’s plain black. Personally, if I were you, I’d go for a sageo with two different colors on each side and I’d go for the green of the tsukamaki and the other side cream. 2 Quote
Alex A Posted May 4, 2019 Report Posted May 4, 2019 Me too, but mine has a dirty cream sageo. Not the obvious colour but a break from the norm and looks ok. 1 Quote
vajo Posted May 4, 2019 Author Report Posted May 4, 2019 Did you know a source for old sageo? The new ones looks very shiny and the quality is very modern. Quote
Ray Singer Posted May 4, 2019 Report Posted May 4, 2019 You may want to consider vintage obijime as an alternative. Nice old obijime can often be found for around $5 each. 5 Quote
Jason N Posted May 4, 2019 Report Posted May 4, 2019 It’s personal preference. I would pick a color that complements the Tsuka Ito, so gray/silver. If I was going to display it with a katana, I would order two of the same color and replace both so they match exactly. You can never go wrong with black, so I would pick up some spares in black in case I didn’t like how the colored one looked. Quote
Robin Posted May 4, 2019 Report Posted May 4, 2019 This will look great I think.... this is just a photo I saved a while ago...it's not mine. But...I searched a bit and maybe this comes pretty close.... https://www.seidoshop.com/products/silk-sageo-nakafuji-weaving-fine The tetsukon/white combo looks like it. When the white is too white, you can maybe soak it with tea. Robin 4 Quote
vajo Posted May 5, 2019 Author Report Posted May 5, 2019 Thanks Robin, that will fit perfect. 1 Quote
Harry Posted May 7, 2019 Report Posted May 7, 2019 I am curious what type of knot other collectors favor for a sageo? Harry Quote
