Great blade up on Aoi, but..

Looks like a great blade, but one thing seems amiss.. might be my beginner eyes..

 

 

 

This sword belongs to Saijyo saki ranking.
The blade was polished by hog ranking polisher.

Spell checker corrected “high” (probably misspelt in some variant that confused the spell checker) to “hog”.

 

Good blade indeed. But one of those cases where one needs to exercise their eyes and brains and judgement:

- nowhere in the paperwork does it say “Fukuoka”

- yet, it is described as such by Aoi....

- but also the shape of the choji and their direction is more Yoshioka than Fukuoka and in more of the hamon than not. However, there are some areas where it could be Fukuoka (bet fewer overall)

- therefore, the NBTHK could not reach a consensus as to F vs Y and decided to go with the safe “Ichimonji”-only moniker

Tsuruta San has posted reply to objections about the different oshigata but I am not sure of the meaning of this reply... Anyway this sword is much too high for me... but so wonderful watching...!
