Brian Posted April 20, 2019 Report Posted April 20, 2019 Avoid,A thread on WaF has exposed him as a criminal who fraudulently creates fake Japanese wartime flags, altering and manufacturing them.He also messes with fittings. This is a seller to avoid, and even try and prosecute if possible. The thread is here for those who are members there: http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/showthread.php?t=986386 An example..he bought this original banner/towel from a known collector:And this is how he is selling it:That is definitive proof folks. Avoid the fraudsters, and out them where possible. 10 Quote
Surfson Posted April 20, 2019 Report Posted April 20, 2019 That flag has obviously been "monkeyed" with. Thanks for the heads up Brian. Quote
ChrisW Posted April 20, 2019 Report Posted April 20, 2019 Monkey see, monkey do (time in prison for fraud). It'd be nice if the scumbag was caught doing something illegal and stripped of his livelihood and freedoms. Then the market would be a little safer. Con-artists deserve no sympathy. Quote
16k Posted April 21, 2019 Report Posted April 21, 2019 Damn! And here I was looking up his auctions the other day thinking “interesting stuff!” Thank you for the alert Brian. Quote
Stephen Posted April 21, 2019 Report Posted April 21, 2019 Just know what ya know, im sure not every sale is dodgy. Quote
zook Posted April 21, 2019 Report Posted April 21, 2019 Yes ... several of us reported him for the "copper prototype sword" he has currently listed on ebay. I wish they would do something about it, but I don't hold by breath or I would have passed out long ago! Quote
Blazeaglory Posted April 21, 2019 Report Posted April 21, 2019 Wow. What wasted talent! But why alter an original flag? Seems counter intuitive. Like, he could have just added a premium on the original item but instead he adds modern drawing? Looks cool I have to admit but very strange. So, its supposed to be a form of "trench art" or something? Quote
Brian Posted April 21, 2019 Author Report Posted April 21, 2019 Same guy up to no good as discussed before: http://www.militaria.co.za/nmb/topic/27939-copper-handle-nco/This guy needs a lesson. And here is the $%#$hole himself: 2 Quote
reeder Posted April 21, 2019 Report Posted April 21, 2019 I’ve been trying to raise awareness about this guy’s activities for a couple of years now. The real issues surround swords. So far I’ve witness him: 1. Amateur polishing, it’s poor by even amateur standards. 2. Adding mei - I saw a kokura arsenal blade he bought, then re-listed with the mei if emura added. 3. Dremel horimono added to blades. 4. Mixmasters, this I’m mixed in as you buy what you like. If you like all matching original fine, if you like it to have been put back together fine. He’s sold under a few different eBay accounts and has used a few different names. I know some other stuff but it’s all hearsay. 4 Quote
vajo Posted April 21, 2019 Report Posted April 21, 2019 This guy is total crazy. He is like showa22 and makes more damages than red rust. 1 Quote
Stephen Posted April 21, 2019 Report Posted April 21, 2019 ya think he did his own masamune chisel work??? lol Quote
PNSSHOGUN Posted April 22, 2019 Report Posted April 22, 2019 Showa22 is a saint by comparison TBH. 2 Quote
ChrisW Posted April 24, 2019 Report Posted April 24, 2019 That's pretty scary when you consider what Showa's been up to, John. Quote
Death-Ace Posted May 5, 2019 Report Posted May 5, 2019 This guy seems to always have "nice" things. Its a shame though, looks like there are a few blades that would still be collectors items or at least preserved if he didn't work his magic. The amount of "extra" parts he has disturbs me on how many he's mismatched. Now it's like he came up with these WWII Seikoshas out of nowhere too. Hate to see what would happen if he came across some decent Nambus... I'll be close to him when I get home for leave, I really want to see ehat he says about his "treasures" lol. Quote
reeder Posted June 1, 2019 Report Posted June 1, 2019 It appears the monkey has a new eBay tag, “worldsbestcollector” Quote
ChrisW Posted June 1, 2019 Report Posted June 1, 2019 Let's make sure people have awareness of his downright destructive practices so we can spare people from costly frauds! Quote
O-Midare Posted December 13, 2019 Report Posted December 13, 2019 Here's a blade of some sort he has for a cool million. https://www.ebay.com/itm/WWII-Japanese-sword-ULTRA-RARE-Sakabat-reverse-edge-blade-MUSEUM-PIECE/113828029442?hash=item1a80ade402:g:nSgAAOSw0qFdNldw And another I'm not sure what happened here. But it claims an amazing Horimono, for $ 2799.99 https://www.ebay.com/itm/WW2-Japanese-ARMY-OFFICERS-KNIFE-SWORD-WITH-AMAZING-HORIMONO-SAMURAI-VINTAGE/113848845701?_trkparms=aid=555018&algo=PL.SIM&ao=1&asc=40719&meid=a750d2c4320c445a93f04df53dd79808&pid=100012&rk=4&rkt=6&sd=113886346793&itm=113848845701&pmt=1&noa=0&pg=2047675&_trksid=p2047675.c100012.m1985&redirect=mobile Quote
Ken-Hawaii Posted December 13, 2019 Report Posted December 13, 2019 Horrible! Can't see how his feedback stays at 100%. Quote
Shamsy Posted December 13, 2019 Report Posted December 13, 2019 Horrible! Can't see how his feedback stays at 100%. Because his buyers clearly have no idea what they're buying, would be my guess. Quote

Shamsy Posted December 14, 2019 Report Posted December 14, 2019 More kindly, I'd say there are a lot of overly trusting rookies... Or perhaps over-enthusiastic people who skip the study and research step (that can be their own fault). I was very lucky when I started collecting. Not only were prices extremely low comparatively, but I only seemed to find the good, honest sellers. It was a few years until I found any books to help me, not to mention great communities online. I still deal with the same sellers now (those still around, anyway). Perhaps the difference is that back then, we didn't have as many charlatans because of the lower prices. It was more 'collectors' who also sold and traded surplus? Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted December 14, 2019 Report Posted December 14, 2019 I got lucky at first too, Steve, with the Mantetsu I inherited from Dad. But when I went to find parts for the saya, I bit on what turned out to be a real junker! Did good after that experience! 1 Quote
