I am very curious as to why you feel this is not the original koshirae?

The saya is brand new, i have exactly the same one from Aoi craftsmen for my Omiya. It looks brand new too :)

OK - that makes sense.  I was wondering how such a long blade could be used in a sabre mount but that might be explained by the suguta.  This is not my usual turf so thanks for the opinions.

(go to the site page and click 'katana' then scroll down about 3/4 page)

Way back when I was just starting in the field I saw the Sadakazu shown in the above link - scroll down to the one with the military mounts.  I didn't know anything but I knew I loved this little bad boy!  I still remember I just couldn't get my mind wrapped around the price!  LOL  Now - meh... (I wish) ROFLMAO!!!

Hi Peter,

well i AM assuming THIS because its post samurai and right at the start of the imperial build up.

but that doesnt mean much, BUT the sori is very simular to the mumei taisho periad blades made for the KYU that where front and centre of the sino, russo, machurian wars.

im really only going on my gut on this one. I like gassen works, but I will never afford one.

feel free to shoot me down if im talking out my ass.  " iv been informed of this in the past"
