First off i'd like to introduce myself my name is Michael and i am into collecting WW2 "things" recently ive come across somebody selling a WW2 "katana" this person has no clue where it came from he is only selling a old collection. His collection consists of diffrent kinds of swords of diffrent countries.

Im a complete novice on the subject of telling whether something like this is a Chinese version or not.

Hence im hoping somebody will be able to tell me.

I'll try and upload some pictures.

Kind regards Michael

Dear Michael.

Welcome to the board.  Your suspicions are quite correct, this is not a Japanese sword.   It is most likely a Chinese fake.  If you want detail then please ask and we can give you a long list.

Hope your next one is a great find.

Enjoy.

All the best.
