raaay Posted March 11, 2019 Report Posted March 11, 2019 Hi Chris the last pic of the tang it looks like it has been signed ! there seems to be parts left of what looks like Kanji ? Quote
hobnails Posted March 11, 2019 Author Report Posted March 11, 2019 Hi Ray not signed I think it's my poor photography. the 4th pic down shouldn't be there it's another sword, was getting late and my tired eyes deceived me lol. Quote
vajo Posted March 11, 2019 Report Posted March 11, 2019 Looks like a early shinto or late muromachi to me. I like it. Quote

Marked "Ichi"? Before realizing that, I was going towards one of the Oei Bizen based upon the choji pattern I thought I saw. Quote
PNSSHOGUN Posted March 12, 2019 Report Posted March 12, 2019 It's a very nice sword, my guess is a Shin Shinto Utsushi of a high level Bizen work. Quote
raaay Posted March 12, 2019 Report Posted March 12, 2019 Hi Chris Not the 4th pic but the 5th which looks like it was signed with a katana Mei, I can see ! on the tang above the peg hole and below the Ana , what looks like kanji, that has been possibly removed ?? Quote
Tom Darling Posted March 12, 2019 Report Posted March 12, 2019 I recall seeing a similar horimono with cherry blossoms tree and branches to cover up flaws? I hope your katana is devoid of that example. Tom D. Quote
hobnails Posted March 12, 2019 Author Report Posted March 12, 2019 Hi guys thanks for you comments,I can see no flaws where the horimono is but how would you know? Nothing visible.I had another look at the sword last night and I am pretty sure it's never been signed. The other sword is one I posted on another thread. Regards Chris H Quote
