Ray Singer Posted March 1, 2019 Report Posted March 1, 2019 Quite a new approach to sword descriptions at Aoi. https://www.aoijapan.com/wakizashi-bishu-osafune-iemori-ouei-10-nen-8-gatsu-hi/ "From Sword maker Bishu Osafune Iemori: Everybodo in Heisei era, are you fine? I’m now talking from the heaven 675 years ago. This age happened Ouei no Ran at Ouei 6th November 28th. I was making this sword with my students(Deshi) at Ouei 10th in hot summer August. Very hot! We are making sword very intense and forcused with mu deshi(student) and prayed our success. Finally We succeeded to make this sword. At that time I communicated with Mr.Bizen Morimitsu and Mr Yasumitsu san but making sword technique is secret and do not say about the secret each others. I saw many times his sword and researched. They also researching our sword technique. Generally speaking Morimitsu san and Yasumitsu san made more small size koitame hada and also bo-utsuri made. But My sword is more larger mokume and item hada and also midare utsuri hamon. I heard from master of Aoi Bijyutsu said the blade is very good work both jigane and hamon also midare uturi and has kept more than for 675 years by sword collector. I’m now weep with joy. and also my sword became Oowazamono cutting test ranking. I will talk to our deshi(students) about this story. Please keep my sword in good condition for a long period in the future. Thank you very much." 9 Quote

Ken-Hawaii Posted March 1, 2019 Report Posted March 1, 2019 Here in Hawaii, it's called "talking story," & is a pretty effective way to tell potential buyers (especially new ones) about the blade's features in a non-technical way. 1 Quote
Jussi Ekholm Posted March 1, 2019 Report Posted March 1, 2019 It is classified as a kodachi instead of wakizashi that they have in title, also Ōei 10 = 1403 and not 1344. I think the description is funny and different. Quote
dominnimod Posted March 1, 2019 Report Posted March 1, 2019 I'm glad master Osafune Iemori learned english in heaven, it's never too late to pick up new languages Quote
SAS Posted March 1, 2019 Report Posted March 1, 2019 To really know what is going on with a sword, it is necessary to talk to the steel. Quote
16k Posted March 1, 2019 Report Posted March 1, 2019 If anyone doubted of life after death, there we have a irrefutable proof! Quote

Gakusee Posted March 2, 2019 Report Posted March 2, 2019 Funny message or not, it is a decent ko-dachi at a decent price. Quote
