Artur DrogaMiecza Posted February 25, 2019 Report Posted February 25, 2019 Help me please with Mei translation. Quote
Ray Singer Posted February 25, 2019 Report Posted February 25, 2019 備州長船盛重 Bishu Osafune Morishige My impression is gimei. Mei (and nakago) does not have the appearance of Nambokucho-to-Muromachi. Appears fresh and mei lacks confidence. 2 Quote

Ray Singer Posted February 27, 2019 Report Posted February 27, 2019 The individual who sold this sword has reached out to express extreme confidence that the mei is authentic. I will withdraw the opinion above and reserve judgment pending shinsa. Best regards,Ray Quote
Jean Posted February 27, 2019 Report Posted February 27, 2019 Nakago does not fit, in Muromachi, Bizen nakago is stubby with no great tapering. https://www.aoijapan.com/img/sword/2018/18364-2.jpg https://www.aoijapan.com/img/sword/2018/18412-2.jpg A whole picture of the nakago is needed 3 Quote
Vermithrax16 Posted February 28, 2019 Report Posted February 28, 2019 I dread Bishu school posts.......... Jean found some examples but I would think the nearest I could find in mei comps tonight is 6th gen Morishige (1491). Ana hole is not in correct place and looks gimei to me after photo compare. Agree with Ray, send it to shinsa and find out, always the possibility it's some other Morishige or a school sword etc. I am being kind in that comment. Quote
Jean Posted February 28, 2019 Report Posted February 28, 2019 Shinsa, for me it is a shinto sword. Quote
Vermithrax16 Posted March 1, 2019 Report Posted March 1, 2019 Send to shinsa. Here is what I came up with as a comp tonight: 1 Quote
kanetoyo Posted March 1, 2019 Report Posted March 1, 2019 I and the buyer are in trouble. Please do not post irresponsibly. Quote
Vermithrax16 Posted March 2, 2019 Report Posted March 2, 2019 I and the buyer are in trouble. Please do not post irresponsibly. Yeah, I will will try not to. I just posted a mei comp. Not sure what you mean but thanks. Quote
Brian Posted March 2, 2019 Report Posted March 2, 2019 Easy to solve..submit for papers and post the outcome. His comment is directed at the call of possible gimei. It is not irresponsible though, it is always possibly unless the sword is sold with a guarantee of shoshin? 3 Quote
