ChrisW Posted February 12, 2019 Report Posted February 12, 2019 Hey all! I just came into possession of a full grip assembly for a kyu gunto (finally!) and strangely enough, I don't have any seppa with the little rectangle cut out for the catch release. If anyone has some of the (what I assume to be standardized seppa) for the machine-made kyu gunto blades, let me know! I think I might need 2-3. I am also looking for a steel saya that would fit. Hit me up if you have any of that!
PNSSHOGUN Posted February 12, 2019 Report Posted February 12, 2019 Chris generally Kyu Gunto will have 1-2 Seppa and they are often brass with scalloped edges. If it's a machine made blade you have then one should be correct.
ChrisW Posted February 12, 2019 Author Report Posted February 12, 2019 Thanks for the info. Now I just need to find one! I have none unfortunately.
ChrisW Posted February 12, 2019 Author Report Posted February 12, 2019 Well... I thought it was machine-made, but maybe it isn't? It does have a clear hamon that is not etched on but I do not have the level of expertise to be able to tell the difference.
kissakai Posted February 12, 2019 Report Posted February 12, 2019 Have a look on you tube on how to make a seppa as it's not difficult There is an excelent from Ford Hallam but you don't need to go into that much detail It needs to match up to the tsuba seppa dai, saya and tsuka Small pices of brass and copper are availavle in varius widths on eBay. Cheap so no problem if you mess up
ChrisW Posted February 13, 2019 Author Report Posted February 13, 2019 True I could. I was just wishing to keep it as original as possible. Push comes to shove, I'll make some.
