This is a Yonezawa gun, it is signed but I have not taken it apart since I've owned it. Its 94 cm in length with a bore of 38.2 mm. It weighs 28 lbs.

Gary, are you saying that the internal muzzle diameter is 3.82 cm?

Yes, it's 1.5 inches or 3.82 cm. It's 17.27 kilos so it's a pretty large gun. It's the largest diameter bore that I have seen without a cannon type muzzle.

That will be around 90 Monmé and a very rare gun I suspect.

 

If you want to open her up just remove the two rings and undo the screw in front of the trigger. It goes up into the Tobi no O hawk tail. Post some shots of the inscription and I feel sure that we can read it for you.

And please, remove the barrel on the Yonezawa. I’m dying to know the signature

Jan, you will be the first person I send the image to. I almost tore my left bicept recently and can't properly use my left arm yet so I can do much with the large guns. Since there isn't another forum for matchlocks I will list some more images if you don't mind. Most of these have never been shown to ML collectors.

A semi-torn bicep is no fun. You should def not try to lift O-zutsu for a while.

A Yonezawa with almost 100 monme?! This gun is rare a hen's teeth. I think that Jan didn't se larger Yonezawas than 30 monme during his visit. A stunner!

The bands do not want to come off so I was going to try and compress the barrel into the stock a little with a tournacate to see if that will do it. I am limited with my left arm right now and I'm sure if I engaged my wife's help it would not end well ( for me ! ).
