Hi,

Just a little bemol, this signature don't seem genuine. :(

BTW, what is 'bemol' ?

(Oh, and general question. Why would an auction house send such a very unhelpful photograph? My photos are nothing to write home about, but you couldn't take a more annoying shot even if you tried. You begin to wonder whether they were trying to hide something...)

Piers,

In French, it is synonymous with "problem". :) :)

Merci bien, Jean. I have checked the dictionnaire and found: (music) flat,

mettre un bemol, to calm down, to pipe down. Bemoliser, (music) to insert a flat or flats...

Alors, a bientot!

Reference the comment by Sai Jo Saku. Are all signatures that appear off center gimei? I have attached another different sword for sale at auction.

I am so impressed by the almost immediate response to my queries.

Would anyone care to identify this most recent signature and suggest if it might be worthy of purchase?

I will add two more photos, poor qualiy but all that might help.

And what can I offer this board in return for everyones kindness?

Hi,

this second blade is signed Hishu Kawachi (no) kuni Fujiwara Masahiro.

It is a nidai's (second generation) if it is genuine.

A better high resolution picture of the signature can be helpful.

Hi,

When I translate sword Mei, should I write "genuine" or "not" about Mei?

But i'm not a pro.

Should I add below "proviso" one by one?

I belive-----, ----to me, It looks---, If----, May be----,.

Morita san,

No, that isn't expected :glee:

It is assumed that all translations may or may not be gimei, and we obviously don't expect people to check each one. If there is access to info, or an opinion on whether it is shoshin or not, it is always welcome..but translations are always appreciated and no disclaimer necessary ;)
