Someone will surely chip in, but finding a saya to fit a random sword isn't really doable.

 

You'll most likely hear to have one made for your sword.

That's a tall order to fill as each saya fits its katana like a glove. You'd do better to have one made for it.

U just want an old beater saya? I got one in my garage but not really worth postage as it’s split pretty bad. You collect sayas? Actually pretty good idea as there are few old ones still intact.

I see thats why its a bit hard to find people sell old Saya. I thought old Katana have uniform curve n lenght. Well im a Kris weapon guy in Kris one way to identify original old Kris is by putting it into old scabbard and the original one will fit

minimum required data for a SAYA are length of the blade, MIHABA, SAKIHABA, KASANE, and SORI plus measurements of the HABAKI. Without these it's lottery. 

And then you should post in the 'Wanted to buy' section.

Agreed. Habaki takes care of most of the rest, unless blade is extra-thick.

Is your sword in lovely polish with no scuffs ?. If so, buying an old ill fitting saya may well put scuffs down your blade, repairing scuffs professionally is an hassle and expense you will want to avoid.

 

If the swords in old polish, no point getting it polished, as scuffs will eventually show from an ill fitting saya.

 

Maybe there is someone local who makes saya at a reasonable cost.

I'm a big fan of old saya textures. I don't like the easy painted mono colored new saya that we mostly get from restaurations. Before making a new saya i think a shira saya looks much better

I think you should contact Mike Hickman Smith in the UK. His Saya-Nuri is of very high quality, also he can do all kinds of old-style urushi effects.

He only uses 100% real urushi.
