Vermithrax16 Posted January 23, 2019 Report Posted January 23, 2019 In the Nihonto section I posted which sword this set of fittings is for, but spent little time on the koshirae. It is worthy of it's own thread. Tensho style koshirae. All fittings (tsuba, fuchi, kashira) are old iron, in excellent condition. The tsuba to my eye is Katchushi, but I am not really good at identification of old iron tsuba, feel free to offer input if you have an idea. The sageo is deep brown to match the theme of the set (anyone know how to re-tie it? It came undone during unpacking). The saya is finished in ishime (stone surface) style and the lacquer work to my eye is excellent. What I like about this koshirae is how dangerous it looks. Looking at it, I get a feeling this is what a samurai going to a real fight would have his sword outfitted in. It's menacing, I really like it. Now I am looking into Tensho work to study as I had not had previous exposure to it. 4 Quote
TETSUGENDO Posted January 23, 2019 Report Posted January 23, 2019 Very handsome koshirae Jeremiah, menacing is a very apt description, the person who assembled it did a great job! Cheers, -S- Quote

Vermithrax16 Posted January 23, 2019 Author Report Posted January 23, 2019 Member Curran pointed out a Tensho koshirae that Darcy had for sale a while ago, there is a LOT of information in this write up on the style and application: https://yuhindo.com/tensho-field-koshirae/ Quote
