Nihonto1973 Posted January 20, 2019 Report Posted January 20, 2019 I've had this wakizashi for a While now, but the maker remains a mistery to me. Two kanji clearly say nanki Oite, only the top of the Third kanji is visible. Yet I'm unable to identify the maker. Seems to be late Koto or Shinto, Anyone willing to assist me? Thanks in advance Kind regards Joo Quote
Nihonto1973 Posted January 20, 2019 Author Report Posted January 20, 2019 Some more pictures ..... Quote
Ray Singer Posted January 20, 2019 Report Posted January 20, 2019 The first candidate which comes to mind is 於南紀重國造之 (oite nanki shigekuni tsukuru kore). That is just based on the kanji used ans not a verification of the mwi itself. 1 Quote

Or is it possible ? If any more pictures required , just ask .... Joo Quote

Jacques Posted January 21, 2019 Report Posted January 21, 2019 Not so uncommon. I think you can exclude Koto era. Quote
Nihonto1973 Posted January 21, 2019 Author Report Posted January 21, 2019 Not so uncommon. I think you can exclude Koto era.Thx for your reply Jacques .May i ask , why i can exclude koto ? Its overal shape , and/or other details ? I studied and compared this sword with all the other Shigekuni swords i found in my Token bijutsu books ...... Remember : i'm in the learning proces ...... But to me this is a good opportunity to learn about kantei with the sword in hand ... I dont want to focus on the suriage mei , its better to elimenate schools and periods by shape , hamon , hada etc.....i belive . Quote
