Manny Posted January 16, 2019 Report Posted January 16, 2019 Hello, my name is Manny and I'm new to this site and sword collecting. Thank you for accepting me. I own a shin gunto made in the traditional method bu Emura Saku. It has a different style tsuba than what is typically found on a military sword. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. TETSUGENDO Posted January 16, 2019 Report Posted January 16, 2019 Welcome Manny, It's not unusual to see these pieces sporting a Tsuba that had personal meaning(a family heirloom, etc.) for the owner. Cheers, -S- 1 Quote
Dave R Posted January 16, 2019 Report Posted January 16, 2019 You even see them on factory blades....... There is some discussion elsewhere on this site. 1 Quote
vajo Posted January 16, 2019 Report Posted January 16, 2019 Stephen are the lego stones from the same period? 1 Quote
Brian Posted January 17, 2019 Report Posted January 17, 2019 Basically, what they are telling you is that this is an antique tsuba repurposed for the war and mounted on a wartime sword. Not too unusual. 1 Quote
