Guntoguy05 Posted January 11, 2019 Report Posted January 11, 2019 What do you guys think of my late War last draft Officer Sword? I also read in Dawsons book that it could have possibly been a emergency home defense sword as well. Does anyone have any late War parts? I’m looking for a plane black fuchi with or without button, iron oval tsuba and brass habaki. 3 1 Quote
David Flynn Posted January 11, 2019 Report Posted January 11, 2019 I think it's just a mumei blade in a put together mount. 1 Quote
Guntoguy05 Posted January 11, 2019 Author Report Posted January 11, 2019 It looks an awful lot like the one in the book. Quote
Guntoguy05 Posted January 11, 2019 Author Report Posted January 11, 2019 It looks an awful lot like the one in the book. It even mentions the blue wrapping. 1 Quote
PNSSHOGUN Posted January 11, 2019 Report Posted January 11, 2019 Majority of these Last Type swords have had Mantetsu blades in them. Quote
IJASWORDS Posted January 11, 2019 Report Posted January 11, 2019 These normally come with Mantetsu or Dalian Railway Factory blades. These outfits are pretty rare, and there is debate about about their time of issue. They are one of my favorite WW2 swords. Due to their rarity finding original parts would be like winning the lottery! 1 1 Quote
Guntoguy05 Posted January 11, 2019 Author Report Posted January 11, 2019 I like the canvas same’ and the blue ito. Quote
BANGBANGSAN Posted January 11, 2019 Report Posted January 11, 2019 I noticed something of this type sword(I had 2)。The tang has 2 holes like normal type 3,but the tsuka only has one hole. 1 Quote
vajo Posted January 11, 2019 Report Posted January 11, 2019 Some came with yellow or ivory color ito. I like that kind of koshirae. Had none and look for a very mint condition. These are extreme rare. Quote
Guntoguy05 Posted January 11, 2019 Author Report Posted January 11, 2019 Looks as if my is ivory color. Quote
ROKUJURO Posted January 11, 2019 Report Posted January 11, 2019 Guntoguy05,please sign all posts as is requested here.Your black TSUKA-ITO is new, and newly bound, I think. Quote

Guntoguy05 Posted January 11, 2019 Author Report Posted January 11, 2019 Here are pics of tsuka and the drag. Quote
PNSSHOGUN Posted January 11, 2019 Report Posted January 11, 2019 If you had this professionally rewrapped it would look great. It's unfortunate the original binding is gone on such a rare sword but you may as well have it done nicely now. 1 Quote
vajo Posted January 12, 2019 Report Posted January 12, 2019 John is right. Spent the sword a new rewrap. For example here: http://www.tsukamaki.net/services.htm Quote

Does the blade have any markings on the top of the tang by the habaki? 1 Quote
