zanilu Posted January 3, 2019 Report Posted January 3, 2019 Dear all I know that it will sound a little heretic and pretentious from my side bur I do not find the description given by NBTHK sensei of one of the tsuba I have recenty acquired! Here it is: Dimensions: 82 mm x 78 mm x 4 mm. The tsuba is defined as scatterd mons, Monchirashi no zu (小紋散図). To me it looks more like snow on the ground and snow flakes. I have seens several examples in the past where that patched zogan is described as snow, one among other is http://varshavskycollection.com/collection/tsu-0361/. The only thing that leaves me with doubt is how to describe the zogan on the mimi and how to fit it in the snow theme. Any opinion is, as usual, welcome! Best Regards Luca 2 Quote
christianmalterre Posted January 3, 2019 Report Posted January 3, 2019 Excellent type of this kind Luca! i have seen maybe 4 or 5 yet in my hands.... ( well, you should know that NBTHK those years- did post a lot of questionable attributions in their´s "essayes" -(do better head you for the older "attributions"....!!!) ( if you do concern certifications )- after the 90´s there has ben a massive declination in regard to/of authentifications of Tosogo.... 2cents to this thematics.... 2000 Dollars to your´s Tsuba! ( very nice! and equally very rare to find these days now!) ( i had a friend who keenly did collect them! he would ( if still alive) pay you what i write....) Christian ( a very nice! exemplaire here....definitely!) my very honest congratulations! 1 Quote
zanilu Posted January 3, 2019 Author Report Posted January 3, 2019 Thank you Christian. Fortunally I spent a lot less for it! I generally do buy tsuba for their own merit. If there are papers attached the better! Luca Quote
christianmalterre Posted January 3, 2019 Report Posted January 3, 2019 of course! you did spent less! - otherwise i would get crasy!- ! ( the market is such down....i even hesitate to spent the costs for iron instead for mine pipe tobacco... ) eitherway- ( i personally like it! ) you have- well done! plus- secured! this is, even better! ! ( end of message--) ( but never forget! do throw me the line as soon you get rid...) Christian Quote
Kurikata Posted January 3, 2019 Report Posted January 3, 2019 Hi Luca, just as a a mater of comparison.... But mine has no paper..... Quote
christianmalterre Posted January 3, 2019 Report Posted January 3, 2019 i do not know if your´s is better Bruno ? i but do agree- it is equally very nice! so! why not meeting....? i will show you mine...and finally we can have a longer, or a shorter talk, about ours three Tsuba... (Eidgenossen,Frankreich und Bayern liegen nicht weit voneinander... ) Quote
christianmalterre Posted January 3, 2019 Report Posted January 3, 2019 both, nice Tsuba! Congratulations to both of you! Quote
zanilu Posted January 3, 2019 Author Report Posted January 3, 2019 Wow Bruno! Nice piece! They are quite close! Same decoration I see some difference in the iron and its finish. The iron in yours is quite smoother while mine is tsuchime ji. There is any zogan on the mimi of yours? Regards Luca Quote
Kurikata Posted January 3, 2019 Report Posted January 3, 2019 Luca, I join a pictures of the mimi which looks similar to yours. Definitively both tsuba are from the same school/influence and I would also be very interested in having a theme description. When I purchased mine, the sole description was "Heianjo". Let see in someone can give a clue.... Cheers 1 Quote
Guido Posted January 4, 2019 Report Posted January 4, 2019 Luca, mon doesn't necessarily mean kamon, it can be any (repetitive) pattern. However, in this case I don't agree with the description in the papers: I think both your's and Bruno's tsuba depict (stylized) pine trees. 1 Quote
zanilu Posted January 4, 2019 Author Report Posted January 4, 2019 Guido now that you mention it seems more clear and I start to see what you mean. Maybe it is more apparent in Bruno tsuba than mine but it is definitely there! Thanks Luca Quote
rkg Posted January 4, 2019 Report Posted January 4, 2019 And here's a similar piece that can be yours... The auction is closing tomorrow https://www.sendico.com/yahoo/lot_p538819248.html Best, rkg (Richard George) Quote
zanilu Posted January 4, 2019 Author Report Posted January 4, 2019 Nice one Richard. I could not avoid to notice the differences in the ji... Regards Luca Quote
