Type 98 With Numbers On The Scabbard Drag?

Can the experts please tell me the significance of the numbers on the scabbard drag? Info much appreciated!

This sword has specail made gunto fiting from 若瀬軍刀製作所.It was used on both Army and Navy Gunto.

If you scroll down on that page there is an example with the same extended drag as yours. Generally these are quite rare and desired by collectors.

Hockeydad nailed it, and what Vajo said is correct- all of these have that same number. Yours is a nice example.

 

Do you already have the smith name and date translated? If so, I’d like to know the smith name to go with that kokuin stamp.

Not a Mantetsu.Balde was made byShowa sword smith 兼義(Kaneuji) with hot stamp,Showa 17 year(1942),it has Specail 若瀨(Ishizuka) Factory made mount 。
