dominator315 Posted December 4, 2018 Report Posted December 4, 2018 can anyone help me figure this out? thank you Quote
Shamsy Posted December 4, 2018 Report Posted December 4, 2018 You need to post it blade up, so people can read it... Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted December 4, 2018 Report Posted December 4, 2018 Can't help with the smith, but the date is 1945. Month is really messy, but I think it's "5", so, May. Quote

vajo Posted December 4, 2018 Report Posted December 4, 2018 Kai gunto yama... looks like nearly complete. Blade in good condition, maybe one of the anti rust blades. Good one! Needs some care in wrapping the tsuka with habaki. Quote

vajo Posted December 4, 2018 Report Posted December 4, 2018 Anything a collector is will to pay for. To appreciate the sword you must invest somthing in the sword. In this condition i would not spent to much. 1 Quote
vajo Posted December 4, 2018 Report Posted December 4, 2018 I think it is one of the Tehnshozan Workshop in Seki. The blade looks typical in that Kamakura Style. I like the shape very much. It looks very good but the koshirae needs a good restore to be a fine sword. Quote
PNSSHOGUN Posted December 4, 2018 Report Posted December 4, 2018 Wrong Mei for Tenshozan I think and also lacks the proper stamp. Having the Tsuka rewrapped by a professional service like Fred Lohmann will make it more desirable. Quote
SteveM Posted December 4, 2018 Report Posted December 4, 2018 天照山鍛錬上鍛之 Tenshōzan tanrenjo kore wo kitau 昭和十八年五月日 Shōwa 18 (1943), May I echo what Bruce says about the "May" inscription. It seems very messy - almost to the point where I start to doubt its a 5. But I think Bruce is correct. Ohmura's site is very helpful for this http://ohmura-study.net/731.html http://ohmura-study.net/212.html Also, several entries here on NMB if you search for them. Quote

Bruce Pennington Posted December 4, 2018 Report Posted December 4, 2018 天照山鍛錬上鍛之 Tenshōzan tanrenjo kore wo kitau 昭和十八年五月日 Shōwa 18 (1943), May HA! I guess my head was somewhere else when I was looking at this! And the anchor is lightly stamped not showing all the detail, but it is Tenshozan. Quote
vajo Posted December 5, 2018 Report Posted December 5, 2018 Stainless steel blade... BaZZa. This is not a stainless steel blade. The anti-rust blades from this period used a unknown formular. You can't hardned a sword from stainless steel. We should honour the work and knowledge of that smiths 1 Quote
PNSSHOGUN Posted December 5, 2018 Report Posted December 5, 2018 Oh dear, I should look at the pictures before posting, wrong Mei for Tenshozan indeed! Quote
vajo Posted December 5, 2018 Report Posted December 5, 2018 John for me it is Tenzoshan with a personal Mei. Kanji 6 and 7 Quote
PNSSHOGUN Posted December 5, 2018 Report Posted December 5, 2018 It was reference to myself, it's 100% Tenshozan. Quote
