Kai gunto yama... looks like nearly complete. Blade in good condition, maybe one of the anti rust blades. Good one!

Needs some care in wrapping the tsuka with habaki.

Anything a collector is will to pay for.

To appreciate the sword you must invest somthing in the sword. In this condition i would not spent to much.

I think it is one of the Tehnshozan Workshop in Seki. The blade looks typical in that Kamakura Style. I like the shape very much. It looks very good but the koshirae needs a good restore to be a fine sword.

天照山鍛錬上鍛之

Tenshōzan tanrenjo kore wo kitau

昭和十八年月日

Shōwa 18 (1943), May

I echo what Bruce says about the "May" inscription. It seems very messy - almost to the point where I start to doubt its a 5. But I think Bruce is correct.

Ohmura's site is very helpful for this

Also, several entries here on NMB if you search for them.

HA! I guess my head was somewhere else when I was looking at this!

And the anchor is lightly stamped not showing all the detail, but it is Tenshozan.post-3487-0-59444500-1543967552_thumb.jpg

Stainless steel blade...

BaZZa.

This is not a stainless steel blade. The anti-rust blades from this period used a unknown formular. You can't hardned a sword from stainless steel. We should honour the work and knowledge of that smiths
