Tom Darling Posted November 28, 2018 Report Posted November 28, 2018 I owned this Nihonto 30 years ago, and thought you would enjoy seeing it. Your guess of Kaji is encouraged. Welcome to the party. Additionally, what is the most beautiful Nihonto - Under 2 shaku's! that you've ever seen? I will post the nakago in three days. Thank you. Kind regards, Tom D. Quote
Ray Singer Posted November 28, 2018 Report Posted November 28, 2018 Looks somewhat like Echizen-bori. If the horimono is not ato-bori, I would say it is an Echizen blade. 1 Quote
FlorianB Posted November 28, 2018 Report Posted November 28, 2018 No measurements and slightly blurry pictures make it not easy...Seems a very short but healthy blade with a top grade horimono and pointed nakago. That’s why I guess one of the Gassan smiths like Sadakazu or Sadakatsu could be considered. But it’s just a shot in the dark.Florian Quote
Surfson Posted December 1, 2018 Report Posted December 1, 2018 Two good and plausible guesses. I have nothing to add, as I am not a student of horimono. I do have a book on the subject of horimono, but alas, like many of my other books, I have not found time to read it. Unfortunately, the knowledge of unread books doesn't transmit nearly as well....
