Higo-san Posted November 12, 2018 Report Posted November 12, 2018 Dear all, can someone read the single Kanji name on the left side? The right side reads „Bushu Ju“. Additional reference for this artist would also be appreciated. Best, Chris Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted November 18, 2018 Report Posted November 18, 2018 Having spent some time on this I finally gave up. Is it one Kanji or two? What is the Kanmuri? Is the middle セ or 口? Is the bottom part 八 or is this a kanji on its own? Is it even a Kanji, or an artist's 'go'? Is it partly rubbed away, or was it done to be deliberately confusing? I showed it to some Japanese friends today and they all scratched their heads, not even seeing a readable kanji there. The only kanji in my old dictionary that is even close is difficult to find among the old kanji on offer on the net, in order to post here. Hoping that this post might get the ball rolling for you, Chris. Quote
Higo-san Posted November 18, 2018 Author Report Posted November 18, 2018 Thank you for the time, Piers!!! I have also come to the conlusion that we are actually looking for at least two Kanji. The last is indeed Hachi. All the best, Chris 1 Quote
