Yukihiro Posted November 11, 2018 Report Posted November 11, 2018 Hello to all, This is a tassel I'm buying and I'd like to know whether you think it is authentic or not - I know the Chinese produce very convincing copies... Best regards, Didier Quote
hxv Posted November 11, 2018 Report Posted November 11, 2018 Didier, If authenticity is in question, why not post in the "Wanted-To-Buy" section? You will get authentic tassels at good prices. When I purchased a field-grade tassel and a kaigunto tassel, I purchased them through long-time, trusted members here. Have been happy ever since. Just my sincere suggestion. Hoanh 1 Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted November 11, 2018 Report Posted November 11, 2018 There are some guys here who study these, and I'm not one, but from what I've seen, this looks good. 1 Quote
Yukihiro Posted November 11, 2018 Author Report Posted November 11, 2018 Thank you for your answers (and for the suggestion). The French on-line shop I'm buying it from seems rather trustworthy, but I want to make sure that this is the "real" thing. From what I gather, fake gunto tassels aren't made of pure silk and their "crowns" are larger than the ones that can be found on authentic Japanese sword knots. The problem is to distinguish the fake one from the authentic one when they are not side by side ^^ Quote
