zanilu Posted November 2, 2018 Report Posted November 2, 2018 I have recently acquired this ten zogan tsuba. The dimensions are 77.7 mm x 78.0 mm, thickness; at mimi 2.3 mm at nakago-ana 2.4 mm It comes with a hako-gaki by Dr. Torigoye. The iron is very dark brown, almost black and shows layering, visible in the nakag-ana and in the sukashi thikness. Also the mimi is quite interesting but I lack the terms to describe it. There is no missing inlay and the brass has a dark patina with a bluish hue on most of it. I think that the sukashi decoration represent butterfly wings but I am not shure. My guess based on the iron and thickness is late Muromachi. All comments are welcome. Regards Luca 1 Quote

Rich S Posted November 2, 2018 Report Posted November 2, 2018 Really nice tsuba! Early Onin with all the inlay intact are pretty hard to find; at least for me. Congrats on a good find. Rich 1 Quote
