TETSUGENDO Posted November 22, 2018 Report Posted November 22, 2018 A nice Kaga iron piece from 'Swords of the Samurai', by Lumir Jisl- plate 55. Quote
John A Stuart Posted November 22, 2018 Report Posted November 22, 2018 I have always just thought Higo for this tsuba, but, I guess, Kagazogan is apt as well, No? john Quote
zanilu Posted November 22, 2018 Author Report Posted November 22, 2018 Steven good find. I have the book but totally missed it! John the picture are small, but it look like nunome zogan to me, but it is difficult to say! If really nunome zogan is not topical of Kaga zogan, or at least this is what I came to understand. John A Stuart Posted November 22, 2018 Report Posted November 22, 2018 I am not sure. The mimi has itozogan and the main inlay is hirazogan, quite flush and flat except one area, the lozenge border is so thick you can feel it's border. ?? John Quote
TETSUGENDO Posted November 23, 2018 Report Posted November 23, 2018 Thanks Luca, It's a very nice piece John, but I'm inclined to agree with Luca....not Kaga, the wear and losses look like what you'd expect with nunome zogan. Cheers, -S- Quote
Guido Posted November 23, 2018 Report Posted November 23, 2018 I'm a little late to the party, but here's a kozuka of mine - hozon to Kaga zōgan: 2 Quote
zanilu Posted November 23, 2018 Author Report Posted November 23, 2018 Lovely piece Guido. You are still on time of course! Do you have dimensions for it? And maybe a description for the rope like thing at the left? Regards Luca Quote
Guido Posted November 24, 2018 Report Posted November 24, 2018 Luca, it's 100 x 9 mm, shakudō with two-toned gold inlay, the koiguchi a sleeve made of silver. The papers don't say anything about the koiguchi design, so your guess is as good as mine. Quote

Curran Posted November 24, 2018 Report Posted November 24, 2018 2cent opinion: I suspect the koiguchi silverwork was a later addition. Quote
