Frank B Posted October 31, 2018 Report Posted October 31, 2018 Before discussing, I just wanted to say thank you again to Curran for the seamless transaction, I can't recommend him enough. The tsuba in question has hozon papers to the ichijo school and is done in the classic snowflake theme. I've done research on these but have not found much. If anyone has more info to add, I'd love to discuss it. 6 Quote
TETSUGENDO Posted October 31, 2018 Report Posted October 31, 2018 Frank, Smart buy! Curran's offerings are always fine quality and never boring, on top of having a great eye....he's a true gentleman. Unless someone comes along who has invested much time studying Ichijo's followers...you'll have to spend a lot of time researching, good luck. Meanwhile, I'll do some digging and let you know if I uncover anything of interest. -S- 1 Quote
Geraint Posted October 31, 2018 Report Posted October 31, 2018 Dear Frank. Lovely tsuba, I have always enjoyed these. Are you looking for more examples or more information about a likely student of Ichijo? All the best. Quote
Frank B Posted October 31, 2018 Author Report Posted October 31, 2018 Geraint, yes that'd be great. Quote
Frank B Posted October 31, 2018 Author Report Posted October 31, 2018 Both would be great resources. Quote
Curran Posted November 1, 2018 Report Posted November 1, 2018 Was there not an NBTHK publication on the Ichijo Ippa in their journal? Work is chaotic at the moment, but I should go digging for it if someone else cannot find it. Also, master Markus is certain to have written on the topic. 2 Quote
Frank B Posted November 2, 2018 Author Report Posted November 2, 2018 I'll try to do some digging myself, thank you. Quote
Geraint Posted November 2, 2018 Report Posted November 2, 2018 Hi Frank. If I can wrangle the technology I should be able to add copies of Ichijo lineage. (From the catalogue of tsuba in the Stibbert collection). I have a reference to a kinko example which I will see if I can find. All the best. 1 Quote
Frank B Posted November 2, 2018 Author Report Posted November 2, 2018 Definitely not a bad list of possible options. Quote
Soshin Posted November 2, 2018 Report Posted November 2, 2018 The second photo gives me a headache. I never really ever owned a tsuba from that school but I remember reading a nice Blog post written by Rich Turner about a tsuba from this school awhile ago. Overall good to see you spending your money wisely young padawan.. 1 Quote
Geraint Posted November 3, 2018 Report Posted November 3, 2018 Dear Frank. Found what I was looking for. These were in Christie's, March 1995. Both by Ichijo and quite stunning! Shakudo daisho tsuba and tsuka plates. All the best. 3 Quote
