Blazeaglory Posted October 25, 2018 Report Posted October 25, 2018 I know it's hard to judge from pics but I'll post and you decide. Something about it doesn't seem right. I don't know what exactly but half of me says yes, half of me says no. Quote
Pete Klein Posted October 25, 2018 Report Posted October 25, 2018 Genuine but I believe the kinko designs have been overcleaned. Quote

kissakai Posted October 25, 2018 Report Posted October 25, 2018 Worth getting if the price is right Quote
DavidF Posted October 25, 2018 Report Posted October 25, 2018 I think that it is an authentic tanto tsuba, but the photograph needs better white balancing. The photograph has shifted the colors in a way so that they look a bit unnatural, giving it an "overcleaned" look. My guess is that it would probably look better in person. 2 Quote
Blazeaglory Posted October 25, 2018 Author Report Posted October 25, 2018 Yah I was thinking the same thing. The "wet look" makes it seem treated to look old. That's why I was concerned to begin with. I'm hoping it stays under $100???? Quote
Pete Klein Posted October 25, 2018 Report Posted October 25, 2018 What I am seeing when magnified are areas of loss of the silver plating from the copper base which appears pinkish in the picture(s). It would of course be better to evaluate in hand. Quote
TETSUGENDO Posted October 25, 2018 Report Posted October 25, 2018 Bon appétit, love the new avatar! -S- Quote
Pete Klein Posted October 25, 2018 Report Posted October 25, 2018 LOL - YEAH - I feel like stuffing something tonight!!! ROFLMAO Quote
Blazeaglory Posted October 25, 2018 Author Report Posted October 25, 2018 Lol. Yah u might be right. I thought it was a pink color trying to better mimic a cherry or peach blossom but now that u say it, it does look like silver plate with copper underneath. Was kinda hoping it was the other way around.. Well we'll know if I win this in a few more hours. Ill update if I get it. If not. PEACE OUT! D Quote
Blazeaglory Posted October 26, 2018 Author Report Posted October 26, 2018 Woohoo! Won it! It's a plum blossom btw Quote

Blazeaglory Posted October 26, 2018 Author Report Posted October 26, 2018 Yes i think they used silver for the "white" look to imitate the plum blossom. Like Pete said, I'm hoping it looks better in hand but for 30$+shipping, I can't complain. I like how the maker dented in the "falling" petals to make them appear lifelike. I added a closer (non zoom) image and the back side Quote
Blazeaglory Posted November 2, 2018 Author Report Posted November 2, 2018 Looks way better in person. You can see the iron color and patina way better without all the white washed photo 1 Quote
TETSUGENDO Posted November 2, 2018 Report Posted November 2, 2018 That certainly makes a difference. Cheers, -S- 1 Quote
