Blazeaglory Posted October 25, 2018 Report Posted October 25, 2018 At first I thought "chicken dragon" but realized it was a Phoenix https://www.aoijapan.com/katana-mumie-unsigned/ Quote

TETSUGENDO Posted October 25, 2018 Report Posted October 25, 2018 Related koshirae has been discussed here before, but this is a different variant. Very nice! -S- Quote

TETSUGENDO Posted October 25, 2018 Report Posted October 25, 2018 The koshirae he presents is distincly different than the others posted here before. If all that was posted here was never seen unique material........there would be precious few posts. How many times can we look at the same gunto koshirae, or what are essentially the same tsuba with minute variations......forever it seems. This is the nature of many things, but some revel in minutiae. So how is this any different? -S- 2 Quote
Ray Singer Posted October 25, 2018 Report Posted October 25, 2018 The Hagiya Katsuhira koshirae is owned by Mike Yamasaki and I believe has been brought to several of of the N. California study sessions for others to enjoy. The (Kencho) Kanenaga Ju-to inside is nothing to sneeze at either. Link and detail photos below. http://tetsugendo.com/swords/C_115_Kanenaga_Katsuhira.html On 10/25/2018 at 5:22 AM, Blazeaglory said: Lol no chicky dragon? Here maybe this is better 4 Quote
Blazeaglory Posted October 25, 2018 Author Report Posted October 25, 2018 Thanks. I can take the criticism. But is the original Phoenix koshirae Chinese or Japanese? Looks to be of Chinese influence. On AOI site his pictures are much better and it actually has a serious amount of detail. Yes the second "dragon" koshirae is amazing and houses an equally amazing sword. PS. Thers a horse koshirae? I'm year of the horse???? Quote
Brian Posted October 25, 2018 Report Posted October 25, 2018 Nothing wrong with either of these. Light years ahead of that Chinese horse koshirae we dealt with before. 2 Quote
TETSUGENDO Posted October 25, 2018 Report Posted October 25, 2018 Dwain, You do not want to see the infamous horse koshirae, believe me, no one who has seen it wants to see it again. It is the stuff of nightmares, some thing are best left undisturbed. -S- 3 Quote
