Hi all. What you guys think about this book?

The Connoisseurs Book Of Japanese Swords by Kokan Nagayama

It seems most searches I do that are detailed or obscure seem to lead to this book. Lots of little tidbits of obscure info

Definetely one to have. Try facts and fundamentals of the Japanese sword, very user friendly for beginners and a lot to soak up.

Greg

Edit: I would also add The art of the Japanese sword by Leon and Hiroko Kapp as well as the great swordsmith Yoshindo Yoshihara.

I feel the same way about certain reference books. The older and thicker the better. I like multiple sources from different era's, if only for the nuances or missed bit of information maybe in a passing sentence, that might not be in modern books.

Thanks for the suggesting btw! Looks like a winner ????

What is important to learn about books on nihonto is that especially when it comes to English language references it is essential to check with at least 3 separate sources before placing your foot in your mouth. Keep in mind that some of these references could be referring to an error made in another reference, which is why the reason for at least a third.

Ahh yes true. Worst to find out too late after the fact. Saves face I would imagine
