Newly Acquired (School And Era?)

Not really an area of expertise for me, what school and era for this one? Silver colored soft metal encased border. The grooves in this border match the actual edge of the tsuba as you can see in the one image with a piece missing from the border metal. The geese are dark colored except for there bellies which are lighter colored (gold-ish colored).

Size: Height: about 69mm Width: about 64mm thickness: about 4~5mm.

I know next to nothing when it comes to tosogu, mainly buy what strikes my fancy,

i often  feel these plate tsuba were added to in Edo times ...just a thought.

Patrick,

In order for this type of decoration to be effective a skilled hand and artful eye are required, unfortunately neither are exhibited here.  Stephen may be right, this could be cobbled together...or its someones fresh attempt at at a style beyond their abilities.  Either way you can do much better.
