Stephen Posted September 29, 2018 Author Report Posted September 29, 2018 Just noticed the rub area, coincides with where bottom hand palm would ride. or is that just romancing the tsuba? lol Quote
Pete Klein Posted September 29, 2018 Report Posted September 29, 2018 ROFLMAO!!! I'm not going to go there but it is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO tempting!!! Quote
Pete Klein Posted September 29, 2018 Report Posted September 29, 2018 Well - that was original...! And so is this: Quote
Stephen Posted September 29, 2018 Author Report Posted September 29, 2018 Mods just delete...adios Quote
lotus Posted September 30, 2018 Report Posted September 30, 2018 Very close to this one which is labelled Early Edo Heianjo. Yours looks later based on iron quality and inlay seems newer... 1 Quote
Stephen Posted September 30, 2018 Author Report Posted September 30, 2018 One very close to that on ebay now...running at $39 now. Quote
lotus Posted September 30, 2018 Report Posted September 30, 2018 You mean this one? If so, I would say your tsuba is much nicer! Quote
Stephen Posted September 30, 2018 Author Report Posted September 30, 2018 Oh yes i agree, not same league. Quote
Brian Posted September 30, 2018 Report Posted September 30, 2018 Later Heianjo, but decent quality? Quote
Krystian Posted September 30, 2018 Report Posted September 30, 2018 A bit of background on two of the tsuba here. The one Steven has right now I bought from Japanese tsuba dealer as "Muromachi". I think that there might be merit for that time attribution but my personal opinion is that it is early edo. It my not look so good on pictures but in real life It really makes an impression. The one from ebay is on auction now: https://www.ebay.com/itm/253879888660 This one I bought in hope to have a daisho set with those two. But in condition, size and quality they are so different that I dropped that idea and decided to sell them separately. Quote
Stephen Posted September 30, 2018 Author Report Posted September 30, 2018 which one do you question Brian? Quote
Brian Posted September 30, 2018 Report Posted September 30, 2018 I was thinking yours was maybe later (mid Edo?) Heianjo, but still very decent quality indeed. But since I know very little about tosogu, easily corrected if it is earlier. Quote
lotus Posted September 30, 2018 Report Posted September 30, 2018 Yeah, I would agree on mid Edo as well for Stephen's but that is just based on the pictures. Iron quality is hard to judge in images. It very well could be earlier as it does share early era characteristics such as minimalistic design as well as muted inlay colors. Quote
Stephen Posted September 30, 2018 Author Report Posted September 30, 2018 iron is more correde than expected from purchase pix, as always lighting lighting lighting angle, still enjoy it and the restraint to adding tones of brass as most heianjo. Quote
