I was thinking it could be Akasaka school based on the style, rim, thickness, and seppa. Though I see no evidence of 3 fold construction and although seller claims .6 cm thickness, the rim pics seem thinner to my eyes anyway. My second choice would be Shoami.

 

Also, any thoughts on era?

 

Vertical (H): about 7.8cm horizontal (W): about 7.6cm depth (D): about 0.6cm

Yes, moon and stars. Stars are frequently connected with lines, this look is unusual and reminds me to dew-drops.

I agree with the Akasaka attribution, probably a later piece. Indeed the "three-layer-construction" wasn't made everytimes.

However, a good looking specimen in design and metal.
