CSM101 Posted September 21, 2018 Report Posted September 21, 2018 Two exhibitions are coming... Uwe G. (the other Uwe) 1 Quote
Andi B. Posted February 1, 2019 Report Posted February 1, 2019 Reminder: the armour exhibition starts today... Quote
CSM101 Posted February 1, 2019 Report Posted February 1, 2019 Don´t waste your time with the exhibition. Just some minor stuff. If Barbier-Muller wants some help I can throw it away for him. The catalogue is 35,00 EUR in german. https://www.nihontophoto.com/barbier-muller Have fun! Uwe G. 1 Quote
vajo Posted February 8, 2019 Report Posted February 8, 2019 Great Book to the collection which i can recommend. https://www.amazon.de/Samurai-japanischen-Rittertums-Gabriel-Barbier-Mueller/dp/377743258X/ref=sr_1_15?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1549654044&sr=1-15&keywords=samurai Its very huge and thick and in german language. There are not so many books about Japanese armour in german language so i think it is worth to take it. Quote
DaveT Posted February 9, 2019 Report Posted February 9, 2019 I got rather excited about seeing this until some feedback came my way which suggested it would be a disappointment. It's not the whole BM collection either, rather a travelling showcase, therefore limited. If you are in Germany then I guess its worth the drop-in visit but compared to the outstanding Samurai Art Museum why visit BM? Peter Janssen is building his collections on an ongoing basis, so there's always a reason the re-visit the museum to see new additions. So for BM, I'm going to skip and save my money. Quote
Gakusee Posted February 9, 2019 Report Posted February 9, 2019 I thought Uwe’s comment was tongue-in-cheek and jocular in nature? For an amateur like me, the photos in Uwe’s website actually show a great exhibition Quote
Higo-san Posted February 9, 2019 Report Posted February 9, 2019 It is actually an excellent exhibition - I am sure that Uwe‘s comment was meant as a joke. Best, Chris 1 Quote
vajo Posted February 9, 2019 Report Posted February 9, 2019 There are some Mindblowing Helmets which cant see enough. Quote
uwe Posted February 10, 2019 Author Report Posted February 10, 2019 High grade items, very well set in scene! The exhibition comprises most of the exhibits shown in Paris back then. Admittedly, the descriptions are a bit weak, but nevertheless, definitely worth a visit! Quote
CSM101 Posted February 11, 2019 Report Posted February 11, 2019 I would not compare both collections. Take them as two opportunities to see high-end Japanese armor. And enjoy it. You can find roundabout 2/3 of the collection here: https://www.nihontophoto.com/barbier-mueller Uwe G. 4 Quote
DaveT Posted February 12, 2019 Report Posted February 12, 2019 Uwe G, super photographs, thank you for sharing these. 4 Quote
