kissakai Posted September 18, 2018 Report Posted September 18, 2018 Hi I'm thinking of having made a copy of Inaba - Suruga tsuba made The maker will sign it but is there a protocol to say it is in homage to this school/maker without infering it is fraudulent just an honest copy? Grev Quote
Geraint Posted September 18, 2018 Report Posted September 18, 2018 Hi Grev, As Jean suggests Ford is your man both to make and to advise on mei. Bye the bye, shouldn't it be utsushi? Look forward to seeing the result. All the best. Quote

vajo Posted September 18, 2018 Report Posted September 18, 2018 Grev i did not understand the intention to spent money for a new signed copy tsuba? Quote
kissakai Posted September 18, 2018 Author Report Posted September 18, 2018 Utsushi is the correct term In the Birmingham museum there is a tsuba with the mei on the back = Nobuie On the front L/H side is Jiro Naokatsu and on the R/H side is Utsushi kore I am assuming this to be the correct format but I wanted to check The reason for having a tsuba made it is one of my favourites and being well beyond my budget it would be impossible to buy it It only involves some sukashi work I don't regard this a just a copy as the term Utsushi implies 3 Quote
ROKUJURO Posted September 18, 2018 Report Posted September 18, 2018 Grev,I'm curious. Can we see a picture of the TSUBA you like? Quote
kissakai Posted September 18, 2018 Author Report Posted September 18, 2018 I won't post an image just yet as I'd like to do one post with the original and its new mate Quote
Brian Posted September 18, 2018 Report Posted September 18, 2018 I don't see anything wrong with an honest utsushi. Not a copy, more a homage. 1 Quote
