My Second Mantetsu

Just got my second Metetsu gunto! Decent blade, with some nicks in edge and a couple of gouges in the kissaki edge. Nice fittings, though missing all seppa, sarute, and mekugi. Also, the spring for the latch is broken off.

Interesting saya liner! It's doubled. There is a thin liner within the outer liner.

Never seen a gunto saya liner like that, Very intersting. Does the inner one slide out of the outer?

 

Keep looking to get one myself but they seem to command a high price here in the UK.

To Mark C, the going price seems to be about USD2700 upwards these days. Have you tried buying from the USA or Australia? UK prices are crazy! Lately Chinese buyers have been active, and will continue to place upwards pressure on prices. Apparently they like them for their Chinese origin and cutting ability for martial arts.

Got some seppa, mekugi, and chuso from Neil (IJASWORDS) (Thanks Neil!!!!), and they fit nice and tight! Still need a sarute. Anyone have one to sell?
